Academic & Career Counseling § Participated in a pro-active advising webinar. • Scheduled 4

Academic & Career Counseling § Participated in a pro-active advising webinar. • Scheduled 4 group advising sessions for undecided students. • • • § Sessions will be held in the SSC Conference Room with 8 students each. Sessions are scheduled for late April and early May. Group advising session will last 1 hour. Piloting group advising sessions during heavy walk-in days. 1 Counselor will be assigned to group advising sessions of 8 students.

Academic & Career Counseling § 2 Counselors will be attending a week long summer institute entitled Quality Advising for Student Development and Retention. The summer institute is facilitated by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). § Counselors have been assigned to developmental English and TRS courses to aid in proactive advising efforts. • Developing program plans based on pre-requisites and semester sequencing. Academic & Career Counseling § Gerri Jacobs is currently on sabbatical researching different approaches to early alert systems. § Met with Recruiting to discuss re-routing new students to the recruitment office, rather than Counseling office. § Working on changing language from “Undecided” to “Exploratory” student. § 29 Classroom visits were facilitated in Winter 2014. Career and Student Employment Services staff collaborated with instructors to integrate career development into curriculum.

Academic & Career Counseling § 11 Employment in-class visits focused on increasing students’ employability skills, such as: Resume and Interview Development, Linked-In, and Strategies of Employment Success. § Five Campus wide Career and Employment Events were conducted. These include; Kalamazoo Career Fair, Intern with the Government, and Criminal Justice Events. § The Career and Employment Advisors are connecting with new students through the “Getting Connected” portion of the New Student Orientation.
