AC Math Expectations Content Expectation: Advanced Content teachers use the approved curriculum resources and guides to provide complex and challenging subject matter to facilitate higher-level learning. Advanced Content lessons and units extend beyond the general level course framework and: * Differentiate curriculum to adequately address the learning needs of advanced students * Integrate interdisciplinary connections * Require significant use of primary data and/or documents * Incorporate research and technology * Incorporate relevant and real-life experiences • Require intellectual struggle Student Performance and Product: Advanced Content teachers require students to demonstrate proficiency in essential course concepts and processes. They engage students in differentiated, rigorous coursework and assessments. Advanced Content teachers require students to: * Complete challenging independent and group assignments * Exhibit competence on comprehensive, interdisciplinary assignments * Analyze, evaluate, and apply knowledge on a variety of assignments and assessments Student products should demonstrate a developmentally appropriate capacity for: * Self-directed learning * Meaningful collaboration * Effective problem solving and communication * Social and emotional understanding of self, relative to community, culture, and physical environment

Homework and HOT Folder • Weekly homework… please… don’t help! This is an opportunity for your student to practice skills learned in class. If they are stuck on a problem, students should place a star next to the problem and move on- we will review that problem during the following day’s class. • HOT Folder- Higher Order Thinking Folder This folder will help students work on their problem solving strategies. The activities within it are above grade level problems featuring language, math and logic. The purpose is to make sure I am challenging your child and helping them learn and grow at a pace congruent to their skills.
