Problem Definition Examples Physical Any physical act meant to cause Bruises, burns, cuts, broken bones harm to another person Sexual Any sexual contact with a child, any unwanted sexual contact with another individual Touching another person in an unwanted sexual way Verbal The use of hurtful words to intimidate, manipulate, hurt or dominate another person Shouting, profanity, ridiculing, teasing, put downs, making fun of another person Emotional The repeated use of actions or words implying another person is worthless or powerless Degrading someone, threatening words or actions, being insensitive to another persons feelings Neglect The failure to meet the physical, emotional, social and educational needs of a child or dependant Not providing a child with food, clothing, teaching harmful behaviors, withholding love, keeping a child from receiving proper education
