Raising awareness on diversity TAKE PART ! Diversity in Action workshop – 7 th edition – 30 May 2016, 22 participants, 1 man WE can all contribute : Ref. Martin Steinacker in CERN bulletin, 14 June 2016 ‘Why diversity means more than just gender? ’ We can all contribute to making sure that we keep moving in the right direction: by not prejudging our colleagues, for example. And by listening, encouraging, creating opportunities and being inclusive we can all nurture diversity. More tangibly, we can keep an eye open for events organised by the Diversity Office, such as the recent talk by Mary K. Gaillard or training sessions designed to help us to be sensitive to diversity issues. One suggestion: You don't think you are biased? Take the test! (link is external) (Harvard Project Implicit)

Computer Security Disk encryption: For security reasons and in order to protect the data on your disk, please make sure that your HDD is encrypted (this is essential for ALL laptops). • • https: //espace. cern. ch/winserviceshelp/NICEEnvironment/NICEHDDencryption/Pages/Bitlocker-for-Windows-7 -and. Windows-8. aspx http: //information-technology. web. cern. ch/services/fe/howto/configure-filevaultencrypt-your-hard-disk Computer Security / Anti-Piracy Protect the Organization; software piracy and copyright violation is theft. Should you have any queries, please contact Computer. Security@cern. ch.
Software piracy & copyright violation is theft! Since 2013, several(!) software companies have accused CERN of violating their license conditions. Repeatedly, CERN user confirmed having deliberately used a pirated license although CERN had valid licenses in stock! Protect the Organization. Software piracy & copyright violation is theft. These cases reflected badly on CERN’s reputation, risked out business relations, and have triggered financial repercussions ($100 k+ for add’l licences). Next time, they might press for legal charges. . . Check your software. Do not answer infringement letters. In doubt, contact Computer. Security@cern. ch.
