For vegetated regions, note that the “green” values are very similar, although the 0. 86 um values are quite different.
For sandy regions, “green” value is closer to the “red” value.
For the fire spectra, the “green” value is comparable to the blue value.
For heavy smoke, the “green” value is comparable to the blue value. For light smoke, more reflectance is from below the smoke.
For the cumulus cloud, the “green” value is comparable to the blue value (although not for the cirrus cloud).
MODIS Bands 1/4/3 (0. 65, 0. 555, 0. 47 μm) (RGB) No adjustments have been made to weight the various bands. MODIS Bands 1/((1+3)/2)/3 (0. 65, red/blue avg, 0. 47 μm)
(RGB) “pseudo-color” Using the 0. 85 um as “green” (MODIS 1, 2, 3) “pseudo-color” Changing the order (MODIS 2, 3, 1)
“pseudo-color” Using the 0. 85 um as “green” (MODIS 1, 2, 3) “true color” Using the 0. 55 um as “green” (MODIS 1, 4, 3) No adjustments have been made to weight the various bands. (RGB) UW/CIMSS
ABI True Color Can one attain true color without the 0. 555 um? I don’t see how. (Especially with one enhancement that hasn’t been finetuned for a certain scene. )
