TRANSITION PROGRAMME As a school, we take our duty of care for children transferring from the primary sector extremely seriously. learn | achieve | aspire | succeed
TRANSITION PROGRAMME • Effective liaison with primary schools, allowing us to cater for pupils’ different needs when enter the school; • Many children visit the school to take part in a range of transition activities before the two-day visit in July; • Transition events for pupils transferring from outside of our main feeders; • Transition visit in July (two days); • Year 7 are the only pupils in school on the first day in September; • Year 7 are dismissed at 12 pm for lunch for the first 2 weeks; • Year 7 have their own area for lunch (year 7 yard); learn | achieve | aspire | succeed
• The Year 11 Prefect Team support younger pupils during form period: this includes reading support; • Peer Mentoring Scheme – older children supporting younger children with any settling in issues; • Regular meetings in the first half term to ensure that Y 7 pupils have settled in; • Any settling in issues discussed in staff meetings/briefings; • Y 7 Tutorial Day in the Autumn Term to discuss how your son/daughter has settled in; • We work closely with the LA’s transition mentor, Andrew Fawkes. learn | achieve | aspire | succeed
