What is BASIC according to the language dictionary? Basic training. a soldier or airman receiving basic training. Something that is fundamental or basic; an essential ingredient, principle, procedure, etc. : to learn the basics of music; to get back to basics.
What do we understand as Basic? 6 1 : 3 n h o J ü Is there something Basic in the Bible? ü The Bible mentions a few or some things, I should say, that are considered very Basic in the Christian life. We should be very familiar with the Basic principles, or rudiments that we find in God’s Word. ü We must be “experts” by now when it comes to Basic Principles of God’s word. ü This series will help us to memorize and to bring back to our memory all of the things that we have learned in the past!
“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. ” Hebrews 5: 12
What is First principles? • Fundamentals of our faith • Elementary principles, first principles, the foundation. The building blocks of our faith • God’s “Scheme of redemption” is found from Genesis to Revelation. Fundamentals help us understand how it is tied together.
What is First principles? • “First principles” does NOT necessarily mean simple – either in compliance or understanding. • Helps us understand the “why” of what we believe. • Consider the “many doctrinal teaching in the Bible”, why we practice them, and why we believe in them. ”
Why we need the basics » Because they are fundamental to understanding the rest and growth. » Reminders never hurt » 2 Peter 1: 12, 2 Pe 1: 12… For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.

Rev 2: 7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. " '

Why we need the basics • Because it is being ignored by many around us! • I am concerned about the direction the church is headed in many places. • Consider Israel – Deut 6: 4 -9 Deu 6: 4 -9 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

' 27 that you shall say, 'It is the Passover sacrifice of the LORD, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households. ' that you shall say to him, 'By strength of hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh was stubborn about letting us go, that the LORD killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all males that open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem. '

The Bible and the basics • Heb. 5: 12 -6: 5, 5: 12 -6: 5 concern that they had not matured. They needed the first principles again. • Rev. 2: 4 -5, 2: 4 -5 To Ephesus, “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works…”
The Bible and the basics • Jeremiah 6: 16, “Thus says the LORD: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it. ’” • Psa. 51: 10, Rom. 12: 2, Renewal addresses the basics.
The Bible and the basics • Examples of the basics: • 1 Cor. 15: 3 -5, Concerning Christ Jesus 1 Co 15: 3 -5 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.
The Bible and the basics • Examples of the basics: • Romans 6: 3 -4, a reminder of baptism Rom 6: 3 -4 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Rom 6: 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Bible Basics – 2014 -2015 • I have chosen 12 fundamental topics, one for almost each month. • We will present 3 -4 lesson on each topic.

Back to Basics – 2014, 2015 • My hope is that with these basics we will be better prepared to defend our faith (1 Pet. 3: 15)
