A quick introduction and how-to guide
Q) What is it? Visual Pinball is basically a pinball construction set. You can make the pinball table anything you want: You can put on flippers or ramps or targets (or… or…. or. . etc. . ) You can change the size, colour, shape of almost anything. You can add pictures and sounds to anything on the table.
1. Getting Started (opening a table & playing it) • Go to the “File” menu and “Open” the table called “Tutorial Table” • Click the Play button [to see the user controls (what to press for flippers etc) press “i” once the table has loaded]
2. Simple Edit • Let’s try a simple change to a flipper First scroll down the image in the editor so that you can see a flipper, and click on it
• Now click on the “Options” button on the left hand side to bring up all the available changes to this flipper Clicking this… …brings up this
Try changing the flipper colour to YELLOW (Click here to change flipper colour) And for a bit of silly fun, change the flipper length to 250 (Click here and type to change flipper length) Now play : -)
3. Add Something New • Let’s add a new bumper Click once on the “Bumper” button on the left hand side Then click anywhere on the playfield to place your new bumper (you can easily move it after you’ve placed it – just drag it)
You can change any of the many options for the bumper in the options panel on the right hand side. e. g. You can have it any size (radius) or colour etc…
4. Drop targets (walls) You’re just about ready to make your own table now, but if you want to make a target that will drop when hit… …you must make sure that both the “Has Hit Event” and “Can Drop” checkboxes are ticked. If these are not ticked it will not drop when hit.
5. Just One More Thing… You can change the shape of any wall, target, or ramp by dragging the “control points”. Control point Same point now moved
You can add more control points by rightclicking the wall and selecting “Add point” Extra control point added (Right-click on a control point for more options)
6. Lastly – Deleting & Other Options Deleting stuff is very easy! Just click on the thing you want to delete, and then press “Del” on the keyboard. There are lots of other options available that we haven’t talked about – feel free to try any of them!
Now you should be able to make almost anything you want!! Good Luck
