Kristallnacht § Kristallnacht was started November 7 th, 1938. It was a four day program. One said it was known as the end of the world. The first riot was on November 7 th, in Kassel Germany. 7, 500 Jewish businesses were either destroyed or burned. 275 synagogues were destroyed or burned. Nazis reported 36 Jews dead. Later it was raised to 91 a few months later. With a closer look revealed that some 236 people died. There were 43 women and 13 children. Some were abused, others were killed defending, some committed suicide. 30, 000 Jewish men and teenagers, ages 16 -60 were arrested and shipped off. Star of David § In September 1941 Jews 6 and older had to wear the Fudenstren. The badge was enforced in 1941. Jews had to wear a yellow six pointed star that was outlined in black with the word Jude is German for Jewish. They had to wear it on an armband. Whoever wore this could not travel on trains or public vehicles. Nazis made the French Jews wear this. Jews had to pay a clothing coupon to purchase something. Swastika § The swastika was the German Nazi flag. It rejected colors of hated Weimar Republic. It had a red field for the idea of blood. A white circle for the nationalist idea. Lastly it had a black hooked cross for struggle of the Aryan man. The swastika was a symbol used by ancient Sanskrit. The swastika meant all is all. It was a combination symbol meaning it had more than one symbol. It was the most influential symbol. It was an early Christian symbol. Zyklon-B § Zyklon-B was the gas used in the gas chambers. The trade name was hydrogen-cyanide. It was manufactured by DEGESCA. German initials for a company that made pest extermination tools. But this was said to be a step up from using carbon- monoxide. Zyklon-B was transported in crystalline form. When the crystal met air it turned to gas and became deadly. Two of the producers were killed for selling Zyklon-B with knowing it was being used to kill people.
