Famous Promises President George Bush famously said “Read my lips. No new taxes” and was elected President. But he was forced to raise taxes to prevent deficit spending. He lost his reelection four years later. Read my lips. No new taxes!
Famous Promises Every president promises millions of new jobs and a better economy. If jobs are created, it is usually because of things that are out of the control of the president. Millions of new jobs!
A chicken in every Famous Promises pot and a car in President Hoover and every garage! the Republican Party used the phrase “a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage” to promise prosperity. The Great Depression began in 1929, about one year after he was elected president.
Famous Promises Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain of Great Britain famously promised “I have in my hand a piece of paper signed by Mr. Hitler… There will be peace in our time” after meeting with Adolf Hitler and negotiating the loss of some territory of Czechoslovakia to Germany. A short time later, Germany invaded Poland started World War II in 1939. Peace in our time!

Important Bible Terms about God’s Truthfulness Truth – God is not just following the rule “Thou shalt not lie”. He is the truth itself. (John 14: 6). Eternal – God exists forever and has always existed. (Psalm 90: 2) Unchangeable – God is the same in the Old Testament as he is in the New Testament. His personality will not change in the future. (Malachi 3: 6) Independent – God does not need anything. He does not depend on anything or anyone to exist. (Acts 17: 25) Immutable – God cannot deny himself. That is, he cannot do things that are against his own character. For example, he cannot do evil. He cannot sin. He cannot lie.
