A brief introduction of apparatuses in the lab
Alhocol burner • Burn or heat something. • You cannot blow out the fire. • You cannot light an alhocol burner with another flaming alhocol burner.
Tripod and asbestosed wire gauze Support containers which need to be heated. In case of temperature rise quickly and explosion.
Beaker • Used as a reaction vessel. • The scale is not accurate(printed with "approx"), so a beaker cannot be used as measure implement. • Can be heated with a asbestosed wire gauze.
Measuring cylinder • Just measure, not use as a reaction vessel.
Conical flask • Used as a reaction vessel. • The scale is not accurate(printed with "approx"), so it cannot be used as measure implement. • Can be heated with a asbestosed wire gauze.
Volumetric flask • One type of volumetric flask has only one constant scale. • Just measure, not use as a reaction vessel. • Cannot be heated.
Test-tube • NO scale. • Can be heated directly. • The volume of lipid had better not exceed one third of the test-tube in case that the lipid will spurt and hurt someone.
Test-tube rack and holder
Dropping glass and glue-head dropper • Add reagent dropwise. • Brown glass is used to store reagent which cannot be illuminated.
Glass rod • Stir the reagent to accelerated dissolution or reaction. • Drainage.
