I. Objectives Project EASME/EMFF/2016. 1. 2/01/SI 2. 749359 financed by a GRANT from the program Blue Careers in Europe Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (EASME). Creation of a Master’s degree at the French “Université de La Rochelle” entirely focused on blue biotechnologies and dedicated to their application in health, nutrition and aquaculture areas. Addressing the skills gaps in blue biotechnology Innovative education and work-based training for students / apprentices / workers, etc. 2

III. Design of a Master course • Questionnaire on skills gap identification in industries sent to SMEs – 30 answers • Agreement on the Master's program between educational and private partners • Syllabus with corresponding ECTS • Constitution of the teaching team with Lecturers from Educational and private organisations) on "hard skills" and "soft skills“ • Module 5 on Employability in the framework of the Master 4

IV. Apprenticeship and life-long learning • Directory of Enterprises working in the field of Blue Biotechnologies in ALPC Region, collect contract proposal/internship proposal for apprentices and students • Job/internship dating : Blue Biotechnology Careers meeting • Memento for LLL and Apprenticeship to industries. Agreement pack between ULR and hosting companies for students: contractual document • Referencing the formation to long life learning organisms & Prospection for LLL • Mentoring students and workers (assignment sheets, certificates of attendance, administrative and financial management, indicators collect for the placement of students) 6
V. Delivering the Master’s course • Definition of students recruitment criteria and selection of students • Creation of the Applied Blue Biotechnology Master II skill portfolio • Blue biotechnology Summer School, including students’ Master’s defence • See students’ feedback on the Master’s programme here : video 7
VI. Transferability and feed-back • Feed back documents to students and host industries/institutions • Follow-up committee including students, host institutions and universities • Identification of new stakeholders and other disciplines or industrial sectors relevant to the Master's programme • Transferability packages/brochures to develop similar master programs • Organisation and participation in events with policy makers, education institutions, children and SMEs • Pedagogical innovation report on industry-focused education • Policy documents including recommendations to academia, industries and EU institutions 8

VI. Perspectives • 2018 -2019 : more than 20 applications received, 12 selected, 8 students now • Validation of the Master’s programme offer for two years in the University of La Rochelle • Habilitation procedure for the Spanish Ministry of Education (ANECA) to transfer the Master’s degree in the Catholic University of Valencia • Exploration of other sources of funding : regional fund, Erasmus mundus fund 10
