Database Schema WFC 8 Archiving – The Next Generation There a couple of definitions, but in this case we are referring to a collection of database objects (tables, views, etc. ) which are owned by the same principal, or database user. Database “user” or “account” are often used interchangeable with “schema”. Enterprise Archive • Enterprise Archive leverages Enterprise Data Management Suite (EDMS) a 3 rd party data management tool from Solix Technologies • Target schema contains historical data that has been archived • Archive schema contains synonyms, views and links to data − Non historical data is only in the Source schema, e. g. EDMS establishes connections to both the Source and Target schemas. ENTERPRISE ARCHIVE If You Have a Legacy Archive Database … Option Migrate Legacy Archive DB to Enterprise Archive − One legacy archive database can be migrated • Upgrade the database to v 8 • Use migration scripts to make it a Target database/schema • Use Enterprise Archive to add newly archived data to Target − If the legacy archive DB is rarely accessed and will not be needed much longer • Consider not migrating it − Leave it as is a stand alone legacy archive database − If upgrading to 8. 0 or 8. 1 consider upgrading the Archive DB − When you no longer need the legacy archive just drop it #KRONOSWORKS © KRONOS INCORPORATED │ DECEMBER 3, 2020 │ 19

Archive data older than 18 months • Allocate hardware resources for application and data − This is needed for Test and Production • Payroll locks – if not handled correctly, this can delay the entire project.
