About Beatrix Life! In 1866, Beatrix was born in South Kensington, London on the 28 th of July. She had a wealthy family. She also had a brother called Ewan. Her father was a lawyer. Her mother always stayed at home all the time.
Beatrix refused to admission at Royal Botanic Gardens. In 1897, Beatrix was refused admission to study at the Royal Botanic gardens because she was a lady. In these Victorian times, it was unusual for ladies to work and study at universities. Therefore, Beatrix started to paint more seriously.
Her book was Published In October 1902, Frederick Warne & Company told her that they agreed to publish The Tale of Peter Rabbit. They published 8, 000 copies of it. Potter had a partner, she worked very closely with Norman Warne. As a result, they fell in love.
Her eyesight are getting worse In 1910 -1920, Beatrix travelled to the Lake District. There she met William Heelis in 1913. She wrote 23 books in all. Unpleasantly, she stopped writing books because of her eyesight.
She used her money to buy farms In 1920 -1940, Beatrix had used her money to buy many farms. She wanted to protect the countryside.
Conservation Beatrix Potter used her money from the books to conserve farms in the Lake District. She liked it very much. She also married William Heelis there.
The death of Beatrix Potter In 1943, Beatrix Potter died in 22 nd December. She donated all her land to the National Trust, and to William Heelis. It was 4, 000 acres of land that she donated.
What do we think about her now We think that she is a very good writer. She wrote many tales. All of her tales she painted the pictures by herself. She likes nature, and likes to paint things in the nature. She wrote many good books and it was published by Norman Warne. Well done to Beatrix Potter.
