About ELA: In 8 th grade, students read and understand a variety of informational text including essays, kljhlkj biographies, and other types of historical, scientific, and technical material. speeches, Students also read and understand a wide range of literature such as stories, plays, and poems from across cultures and time periods. In writing and class discussions, 8 th graders continue to gather information from multiple sources and evaluate whether the sources are credible and accurate. Students write both short, focused compositions, and longer papers that involve research, reflection, and revision over time. 2

CAnvas: Our online learning management system is called CAnvas. Grades 212 will be using this same system. All lessons, including videos, assignments, notes, and assessments will be in this platform. Students are expected to attend school through canvas for 240 minutes a day.

ONLINE Expectations This is a very important and different year for your student. I want them to take this year seriously but also be mindful of mental and physical health as well. Google Meets expectations: ● Come dressed appropriately (as if you were attending face to face school) ● Follow WISD student code of conduct at all times ● Come prepared with questions form the lesson ● Remember, there are NO stupid questions. ● Be prepared: ○ To learn ○ To wonder ○ To work ● Enjoy this class! I will do my very best to make it as engaging as possible but it is the students job to be invested in it. 4

About ME ● This is my 2 nd year teaching at LLMS, my 7 th year at WISD, and 8 th year teaching! I previously was in sports marketing/accounting. ● I have three grown children. Amber is a client manager for a staffing agency in Houston, Ashley is a pharmacist in Houston, and Dylan is going to school studying Environmental Science. ● My husband, Mike, and I will celebrate our 14 year anniversary next month. ● I LOVE to read! 5
