7 th Grade STEM – Mrs. Howell The acronym “STEM” stands for science, technology, engineering, and math-each of these subjects is integrated into the STEM classes will focus on problem solving skills, communication, innovation, real world application, and the use of technology. The class will also introduce STEM career opportunities. Three or more missing assignments will result in a call home. If you forget to put your name on an assignment, it is considered late, which is an immediate loss of 50% credit. ABSENT POLICY: Students are responsible for getting any work they missed when absent. There is a folder in the back of my classroom that will have absent work. If there is a pre-planned absence arranged through the office, homework will be given when possible and is due the day you return to school. MAKEUP WORK POLICY: Students will have the number of days they were absent to make up their work. Lab supplies will be available for 1 week after it is completed for anyone that needs to make it up. After 1 week, the supplies for that lab will be put ©The. Color. Thief_TPT away. Alternate assignments may be given for students who are absent for extended periods of time. A: 90 -100 B: 80 -89 C: 70 -79 D: 60 -69 F: Below 60 I will be using Class Dojo this year to help keep track of attendance and participation. A handout will be sent home with info about how to sign up for my class. Check in to stay up to date on what is happening in STEM class! There will be pictures and videos of class projects and activities!

LATE HOMEWORK: If a student has a late assignment, they should fill out a late assignment pass, staple it to the assignment, and turn it in to the late basket. UNPREPARED FOR CLASS: Students who are unprepared for class multiple days will receive a demerit. LATE TO CLASS: Students who are late to class without a pass from another teacher/office will receive a demerit. If expectations are not met, the following consequences may result: § Verbal Warning § Receive a demerit § Negative parent communication § Poor grades § Loss of participation points § Trip to the office Absolutely no bullying Absolutely no cheating Absolutely no plagiarism Any student involved in any of the activities listed above will receive an automatic administrative referral, and a zero on any assignment where cheating or plagiarism is involved.
