DEVELOPED VS. DEVELOPING COUNTRIES Developed Countries: Will have HIGH levels of all of those economic indicators (per capita GDP, life expectancy, etc. ) Developing Countries: Will have LOW levels of all of those same economic indicators **It is common for countries with lower populations are more developed than countries with high populations because it is easier to take care of fewer people than many people. So population is not always a factor in development. **

WHY DO PEOPLE LIVING IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES USUALLY HAVE MORE CHILDREN THAN PEOPLE IN DEVELOPED COUNTRIES? - to have more “hands” to work the farm - to take care of the parents in their old age **Developing countries usually are still mostly made up of farmers and more kids = cheap labor. Developed countries have more trade and manufacturing and big cities with less space. It is more expensive in developed countries to feed children when you are buying your goods instead of growing/making them by hand. **
8. HOW DO WE “FIGURE OUT” PER CAPITA GDP? - DIVIDE the GDP & the POPULATION of a country.
WHY DOES COUNTRY “B” HAVE A LOWER PER CAPITA GDP, EVEN THOUGH IT PRODUCES MORE GOODS & SERVICES (HIGHER GDP)? There are more people in country B which means the wealth/wages have to be distributed amongst more people.
