Course Overview Seventh Grade Science provides students with background knowledge and laboratory experiences in biological and earth sciences. Units include: § Measurement § Processes of Science § Cells and the Microscope § DNA and Heredity § Classification of Plants and Animals § Minerals and Rocks § Geology § Ecology

What we have been doing… • Leaf collections are due October 11. This project was assigned the first week of school and several class periods have been devoted to help students prepare for the project. • Scientific Measurement and Process Unit- The goal of this unit is to introduce the students to the steps involved in conducting an experiment and reporting their findings.

What’s next in science? • After the students hone their measurement skills, we will be conducting an experiment involving lab rats. The investigation controls the nutritional intake of the rats and examines the resulting growth.

Areas of Focus • Students should be prepared for class. • Students should keep their materials and areas organized. • Students should monitor their progress in the class.
