Materials Needed ● Paper & Pencil Hi Students! Welcome to Week 6 of distance learning. This week, we will be doing things a little bit different. I have yet to receive any finished work from any students, so I’m hoping by scaling back the workload, that will change. I am very eager to receive some of your work just to see how you are doing. Remember, we are not looking for perfection but for practice. Practice does not equal perfection, practice equals progress. I would love to see the progress you’ve made over the last six weeks. Then read and review the nutrition vocabulary words and recommended plate of food. The Importance of Good Nutrition and Exercise Nutrition and exercise are the two main pillars of staying healthy. In order for our bodies to run optimally, we must feed it healthy food and exercise often. According to the USDA Center for Nutrition and Health, a balanced plate of food includes vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy. Additionally, exercise is equally important to our health. By getting up and moving, we are helping our bodies to work at its best. Physical exercise helps us to build coordination and strength. Nutrition Vocabulary Gram - About 1/28 th of an ounce in the metric system. Calcium - A white metallic element found in milk and bone. Fruit - Ripened part of a flowering plant that contains seeds. Eating - Taking food into the body. Nutrition - To provide a person with food. Nutrients - Healthy ingredients in foods. Food - Something eaten to maintain life. Diet - A person’s habit of eating. Nourish - To provide a person with food. Pound - About 453. 6 grams. Vitamins - Compounds necessary to good health, found in plants and animals. Then, if you feel comfortable, try doing some of the exercises that go along with the letters in your name. If you have internet access, you can watch the warm up and fitness circuit videos and follow along. Exercise Whenever you exercise, you always want to make sure you consult with your doctor prior to attempting a new routine. Additionally, make sure you are in a safe area and are well hydrated.
