7 Content overview Autumn Half Term 1 Half Term 2 Half Term 3 Introduction to Drama Acting Skills Physical Theatre Students will learn key terminology through practical exploration of performance skills and conventions. They will consolidate their knowledge through a key words mid assessment, alongside a practical performance at the end of the unit. Students will also begin to shape their teamwork and collaborative skills through this unit of work as they will be encouraged to work with a variety of students. 1. Understand identify the following Drama conventions: still image, thought tracking, narration, flashback. 2. Understand use drama specific terminology within rehearsal and peer feedback. Key Learning Objectives 3. Develop social, communication and team work skills through working with a range of students. AO 3 GSCE LINK Assessment Spring Key Terminology Test Performance Students will experience what it is like to be an actor both on the stage and in rehearsal. They will develop their performance skills through a variety of workshop activities linked to the development of their scripted performances. Students will learn how to rehearse effectively with their peers in tern developing their collaborative and team work skills. 1. Show focus, control and motivation within rehearsal – including line learning. 2. Perform with confidence alongside peers. Students will cover a completely new genre of theatre and learn about the use of the body to communicate to an audience. Students will be introduced to the idea of ‘abstract theatre’ and push their imagination and creativity to new levels. Students will have the opportunity to develop their physicality through the exploration of stylised movement and movement based workshop activities. Summer Half Term 4 Half Term 5 Alice in Wonderland Students will work in groups to create a complete performance of Alice In Wonderland utilising the skills they have developed so far throughout their Drama journey. Not only will they have to learn lines and use rehearsal skills but also make use of their new found understanding of physical theatre to create the hole Alice falls down, as well as embodying that of the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and of course the Queen of Hearts! Students will work in groups to develop sections of the performance that will come together to create a seamless and fluid performance. Half Term 6 Devising: T. I. E. Students will explore the world of Theatre in Education (T. I. E. ) a genre of theatre used to educate different communities on a range of social topics. After exploring the different aspects of T. I. E. students will be given the opportunity to create their very own educational performance based on a topic of their own choosing. These will be shown to the class and if to a high enough standard could be seen in the Creative Arts evening. 1. Understand explain the term ‘Abstract Theatre’. 1.
