6 th Grade Math Topics ---------------------------------------Keep calm and love math! ----------------------------------------Grading -----This class will be graded on a weighted system, the distribution of the weight is as follows: Assessments (80%) A test will be given when deemed appropriate. Tests will assess student understanding of the material taught, as well as Homework (0%) Homework assignments will be previously learned concepts. ________________ Consequences § All minor infractions will be dealt with in class. § If the student’s behavior continues, parents will be contacted. § A referral will be made if problem persists. § Major/severe infractions will result in immediate referral and dismissal, such as fighting, weapons, threats, vandalism and insubordination. ________________ Homework § A homework page will be given on a weekly basis, assigned on the first day of the week and due on the last day of the week. § On skill days, there may be unfinished work that may need to be completed at home. § All homework will be corrected & collected in class. ____________ Electronic Devices § Electronic devices should be kept in students backpacks or lockers. § § The students may use their phones before and after school, during break and at lunch. § They may not take pictures or videos during the day. § Any time a phone is taken, it will be turned into the office. For the first offense, the student will be required to pick it up there after school. For further offenses, a parent will be required to pick up the phone from the office. Preparation § Students need to come to school each day! They miss a lot when they are absent. Plus, the place just isn’t the same without them. § Students should come prepared to class with supplies, homework and a positive attitude. § To use our time efficiently, we will begin with a note on the board and a math starter.
