Alcohol January 25, 2022 • Ethyl alcohol is most heavily abused in the United States. • Ethanol alcohol is the principal type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages, produced by the fermentation of sugars by yeasts. • It is a psychoactive drug and one of the oldest recreational drugs used by Unit 6: Toxicology 2: 13 PM humans.

Alcohol in the Circulatory System • Alcohol is ingested and absorbed in the stomach. • 20 percent of the alcohol is absorbed and distributed throughout the body. • The rest of the alcohol is absorbed in the intestines. January 25, 2022 Unit 6: Toxicology 2: 13 PM
