[54] Prof. Mohammed M. Aman • Dr. Mohammed Aman is Professor of Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) and Editor–in. Chief of the refereed journal Digest of Middle East Studies (DOMES) since its inception in 1990. His research and subject expertise center around education in the Arab world; information and national development; intellectual freedom and censorship in the Arab world, egovernance and democracy.

Prof. Mohammed M. Aman • Prof. Aman received his BA from Cairo University, MS from Columbia University and Ph. D. from the University of Pittsburgh, and did post-doctoral work at NYU. His academic career spans nearly four decades at four major American universities: Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, St. John’s University (SJU), Jamaica, N. Y. , Long Island University (LIU), Greenvale, N. Y. ; and the University of Wisconsin. Milwaukee (UWM). He has consulted and lectured in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East and served as UNESCO and UNIDO consultant to major international projects such as the building of the new Library of Alexandria in Egypt, the Islamic Museum in Kuwait, academic programs development and assessment at the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt. He was a Fulbright Senior Lecturer to Cairo University, Egypt; Mohammed V University, Rabat, Morocco; USIA Academic Specialist to Germany; and USAID Consultant.

Aman • Prof. Aman held a number of academic leadership positions from department chairman, to director of LIS programs at St. John’s University; Dean of the Palmer School of Information Science at LIU, Dean of the School of Information Studies, Interim Dean of the School of Education, Interim Chancellor’ Deputy for Education Partnerships at UWM; Chair of the Middle East & North African Studies (MENA) Committee at UWM. • Prof. Aman is the author of ten books and more than 100 journal articles and book chapters covering topics such as national development, information management, Islam and Middle East Affairs. His two-volume book The Gulf War in World Literature was published by the Center for Research & Studies on Kuwait (CRSK). Other books were published by King Fahd National Library and the League of Arab States in Tunis. He is the recipient of many national and international honors and awards. His biography is included in Who’s Who in America; Who's Who in American Education; Who’s Who among American Teachers, and others. He was honored by universities in and professional societies in the US as well as in Egypt, India, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, among others.
