First read the phonics session support sheet. If possible follow the format for practicing phonics. There are 2 slides for each day. One with a sound to recap and a tricky word to practice writing and a new tricky word to practice reading. The other slide will have a picture and caption that you can get your child to write a sentence for. When asking your child to write a sentence, remind them to remember:

Ways that can help your child to learn the sound or tricky word you are recapping is to have it written somewhere in your house for the day. Every time you are near it ask your child what the sound or the word is.

Don't forget to take photographs and put them on tapestry.

Activity of the day Treasure hunt – Write a list of objects for your child to find around the house which include the sounds they have learnt. Day 1 Give your child a word with the sound of the day in and see if they can come up with a sentence with the word in. You can make it harder by getting them to put the tricky word in as well. Repeat this everyday. Don't forget to take photographs and put them on tapestry.

Activity of the day Full circle – get your child to start with the word car they then have to change the word to card then to lard etc until you get back to car. Activity of the day Real and not real words – can you sort the words into 2 groups, those that are real and not real? Activity of the day Sentence substitution – write the following sentence with words on separate pieces of paper. They might meet in the town.
