8 Part Process For SFBT Counseling Sessions 1. Problem talk: What’s the issue? 2. Separating the person from the problem: The problem is Outside & the answers are Inside 3. Miracle Question: “If I waved a magic wand over your head and the problem is gone…” 4. Exceptions: When was the problem present, BUT you didn’t do the negative thing 5. Scaling Questions: Where are you on a 1 -10 scale? How can we get you to the next level? 6. Goals/Feedback: Positive, Specific, Tangible Goals. 7. Compliments: How did you overcome such a difficult thing? (the Exception) Then compliment 8. Task Setting: Requiring effort but is also attainable, relevant, and works towards a positive outcome
