What is the 35 mm still camera? The purpose of the 35 mm still camera was to have a compact camera that was capable of taking high-quality photos.
Who Invented the 35 mm Still Camera Oskar Barnack was the inventor of the 35 mm camera. In 1913 he built the first prototype. But only to be set back until 1925 when Oskar put the camera on the market.
About Oskar Barnack Oskar was not just the inventor of the 35 mm still camera he was the driving force behind the 135 camera. . He was also in charge of microscope research for Ernst Leitz. He was also a enthusiastic photographer. Oskar was also one of the earliest photographers to capture the relation between man and the environment. His photos of the floods in Wetzlar in 1920 is now considered to be the first reported series shot with a 35 mm still camera.
How does it work?
How Did it revolutionize photography “The cine film was cheap and unused short cut-off bits would certainly be available early on for use in small cameras which were easily portable in comparison the common large-format plate cameras of the time. The cine film emulsion had at first very fin grain structure and slow speed, but as the studios started filming inside faster emulsions were required on expense of the grain size, ironically making it less suitable for 35 mm still cameras once they became generally available. Although the first design was patented as early as 1908, it is generally accepted that the first commercially available 35 mm camera was the 1913 Tourist Multiple, for both movie and still photography, soon followed by the Simplex providing selection between full and half frame format”
Conclusion I believe the invention of the 35 mm Still Camera was a huge step forward for photography. It was a cheap easy to operate camera that everyone could buy and operate. It gave everyone a chance to capture special moments or just take pictures.
