3 rd Grade Newsletter Aug. 20 - Aug. 24 What’s Happening in 3 rd Grade? This week we are beginning our new reading program. Please be patient with us as we figure this out. Our first read will be The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco. Most of our skills will be listening based, as the students will not have a copy of the book. We will have a weekly assessment on the story. Weekly Skills Math- place value; addition; subtraction; rounding (0’s, 1’s multiplication facts) Grammar- Types of Sentences; fragments/sentences Reading- Sequence & Visualize, Main Idea, Genre, Fluency Social Studies- Continents and Oceans Science- Plant and Animal Structures Important Dates Aug. 21 st-3 rd Grade Curriculum Night Aug. 24 th- PTA Bingo Night Aug. 30 th-Parents can eat in cafeteria Sept. 3 rd-Labor Day-no school Sept. 7 th-Book Fair/Dance Please check your child’s binder nightly for all Homework Assignments.
