3 rd Grade Comparison of Proficiency to State Proficiency Percentages
Points from 3 rd Grade Data Slide and the next 4 th and 5 th Grade Slides • • Each year, Millbrook Elementary School has been below the State percentage of students that are proficient. The new third grade students have seen a decline in their scores each year. A determination needs to be made why this current trend is occurring, and why each new third grade class is consistently scoring lower from year to year. The data slides that follow point to a similar trend in fourth and fifth grade, and although the State continues to see improvements overall each school year with new third, fourth, and fifth grade classes taking the test, there is still a lapse each year for third – fifth graders attending Millbrook (the exception of course being 2010 5 th Grade Scores). It would be difficult to surmise that there is an issue with the test. The following questions need to be asked: 1. Are these issues related to the student population? 2. Is there a ‘problem of practice’? These data slides point to the disparity between State Scores continuing to rise and Millbrook’s Scores continuing to decline.
