3 GPP TSG RAN 4 meeting 82 bis
3 GPP TSG RAN 4 meeting #82 bis Spokane, USA, April 3 -7, 2017 R 4 -1704363 WF on Identifying and Defining NR-LTE band combination for NR-LTE coexistence ZTE, ZTE Microelectronics, Nokia, Ericsson, [Huawei, Hi. Silicon, …]
Background • [1] proposes to define the following frequency ranges for NRLTE coexistence operation Frequency ranges for NR Operators whose request is included in the frequency range 1710 -1785 MHz (UL)/3. 3 -4. 2 GHz*(DL&UL) China Telecom, China Unicom, CMCC 814 -862 MHz (UL)/3. 3 -4. 2 GHz*(DL&UL) Orange, Telefonica, China Telecom, Etisalat 880 -915 MHz (UL)/3. 3 -4. 2 GHz*(DL&UL) CMCC 703 -748 MHz (UL)/3. 3 -4. 2 GHz* (DL&UL) Orange, Telefonica, Etisalat Reference [1] R 4 -1703534, Proposals on Frequency Ranges of a Set of NR paired bands
Technical considerations • The concept of NR-LTE co-existence operation proposes a new way of using spectrum different from the conventional way • Technical considerations should be focused for the time being – Specification of NR-LTE coexistence ongoing in other WG (e. g. RAN 1) – New requirements in addition to the conventional requirements specified for conventional band arrangements?
Way forward • Prioritize the work on conventional band arrangement and DC/NSA combinations until December 2017 (Rel-15) • Initial NR-LTE band/frequency range combinations included in RP-170855 are a starting point for defining NR band NRLTE band combination for DC • Wait for RAN 1 to progress on the physical layer design for NR-LTE coexistence operation before RAN 4 can start coexistence study on NR-LTE band combination To be removed
Work plan • Prioritize the work on conventional band arrangement and LTE-NR DC/NSA combinations until Dec. 2017 • Start working on the common requirements between LTE -NR DC/NSA combinations and LTE-NR coexistence with UL sharing for the proposed frequency ranges in R 41704352 from RAN 4 ad hoc in Sep. 2017, at the latest • Start working on the specific requirements for LTE-NR coexistence with UL sharing for the proposed frequency ranges in R 4 -1704352 from RAN 4 ad hoc in Jan. 2018, and complete the work by RAN#80 (i. e. Jun. 2018) Newly added
