24 Double T Shore Header and Sole should
24” Double “T” Shore Header and Sole should be cut at 36”. Verticals should be measured to reflect total height of void to be shored minus 8 ½” accounts for the dimension of the header, sole, and 2 X 4 wedge pack. Cut the vertical 4 X 4 post at the desired length. This shore utilizes 6” overhangs on the header and sole. This results in 2’ spacing between vertical posts outside edge to outside edge. Place the vertical post at that measurement. Insure that marriage between vertical and header are flush and that the joint is square. Place a 12 X 24 gusset over the joint with appropriate header overhang and nail it with 14 – 8 d nails in the header and 5 – 8 d nails in the vertical. Flip it over and duplicate the process. If the overall height of this shore is >6’, a midpoint 12 X 24 gusset is required with 8 -8 d nails in each vertical post. Ex. A total void height of 8’ would receive vertical posts = 87 ½ “ (7’ 3 ½”) Application: Utilize this Class II shore as a spot shore to support vertical loads. This shore is the most stable spot shore. Maximum height for this shore is 12’ and the Design Load is: 16, 000 lb. if vertical posts are < 8’ 10, 000 lb. if vertical posts are between 8’ and 11’
Double “T” Shore Stand up the pre-built top half of the T shore and walk it into place. The sole plate should be set in the desired placement for the shore and the 6” O. H. points on the sole plate should be marked. Place wedge packs on top of the sole plate at the center point of the marks. Lift up the top half of the T shore and place it O. C. on top of the wedge packs. Evaluate overall shore position and lightly pressurize. Insure that shore is plumb and finish pressurizing. Capture bottom joint of sole plate, wedge packs and vertical posts with half gussets by driving 4 – 8 d nails into the sole plate and 4 – 8 d nails into the vertical.
