• Aboriginal people use their art to tell stories; it is their form of writing. • The paintings have layers of hidden meaning. • The paintings they draw can only tell a story that belongs to them.
Aboriginal art uses 'Earth Colours'. Why do you think this is the case?
These are the colours of the desert. Aboriginal artists made their paints from natural materials. Aboriginal paintings also use lots of dots. Why do you think they use lots of dots?
They used their fingers or sticks. There weren’t any art shops where they could buy brushes! Aboriginal art includes lots of symbols for the natural things around them.
Task: 1) Write the date and our LI on your piece of paper. Try to do it in aboriginal style and colours. (dots, browns, blacks) 2)Choose a picture of aboriginal art work from below and copy it onto a piece of paper. 3) Around the picture, write down interesting facts you have learnt about aboriginal art.
