Growth Mindset 8
Resilience is the ability to recover from, or adjust to, misfortune or change. It is a part of life. It helps to prepare us for life. “I am not my mistakes. I can try again. Things will get better. I am not alone. ” 9
Culture of Thinking We strive to create cultures of thinking in our classrooms by using a variety of methods, including making time for thinking, developing and using a language of thinking, making the classroom environment rich with scaffolds for thinking, and making our own thinking visible. 10
11 Examples of Thinking Routines Zoom In - Zoom Out Eg. Looking at a picture Zoom In on a piece of the picture. Who is here? What are they doing? What are they thinking? What might have happened just before this? What might happen next? Examining perspective. Zoom Out to the whole picture. What is happening in the distance? Who / what else is here? How are they connected? How are they feeling? What might have happened before this? What might happen next? Extending perspective. Different points of view. Real Life Experience - something that has happened on the playground. My reality, your reality, actual reality.
12 These are the types of things we learn this year ✘ Continue to consolidate our literacy and numeracy skills ✘ Gain confidence, increase our thinking skills ✘ Learning is fun and challenging ✘ ✘ Learn about ourselves, others, God and our world Keep growing in resilience and independence!
