Serves as a mentor and resource center to ensure nonprofits can effectively provide services to our community. Offers scholarships to Lake County students as motivation to graduate high school and attend college. Assists donors with planning how to invest and manage their charitable assets. Collaborates with local leaders to solve problems and enhance residents quality of life. Provides grants to organizations servicing the Lake County community.

Legacy Foundation’s Scholarship Program Two Scholarship Cycles: Lilly Application Open Now Lilly Deadline is September 15 Common Application (for 25+ various scholarships) opens December 1 Common Application due February 1 Timesaving Trick The Lilly Application and the Common Application are NOT the same, but they do ask similar questions. Students may import information from their Lilly Application into their Common Application. Legacy will be sending out information about the Common Application scholarships in late fall.

What is the LECSP (aka The Lilly)? The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship (LECSP) was

What is the LECSP (aka The Lilly)? The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship (LECSP) was established in 1998 to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana. LECSP encourages Indiana’s most talented students to attend one of Indiana’s fine colleges or universities and after graduation consider pursuing occupations in Indiana. Each county in Indiana participates in the LECSP through their local community foundation. Since the program’s inception, Legacy Foundation has been able to award 193 full tuition scholarships to Lake County students through the LECSP. Award Details Six (6) students from Lake county will receive the scholarship. Covers four (4) years of full tuition to ANY accredited 4 -year private or public college in Indiana. The students will also receive a $900 per year stipend for books. Room & board is NOT covered although most students receive other scholarships awards from their institution to cover at least part of these expenses.

Process & Timeline September 15, 2020: Deadline to apply October 7, 2020: Schools will

Process & Timeline September 15, 2020: Deadline to apply October 7, 2020: Schools will select their Finalist who will be reviewed by the Legacy Scholarship Committee; Legacy will notify students of their application status. October 23, 2020: 18 finalists will be interviewed. Students & schools will be notified if their Finalist will make it to the final round of scoring and be interviewed October 26, 2020: Lilly Overview & Interview Tips Presentation for Finalists selected to be interviewed (optional - via web) October 29 - 30, 2020 Student Interviews (via web) December 15, 2020 Recipients announced. There are 6 recipients and 4 alternates. These must be approved by the Lilly Endowment. 5 additional scholarships will be awarded through this process; they range from $10, 000 ($2, 500 renewable) to $1000.

This can be used for college applications & all of the scholarships you will apply for. • Capitalization & spelling counts. • Print it and read it aloud before you submit. This will help you hear errors, you don’t always see. • Make sure uploaded documents are correct. • Find a reviewer. They catch things you might miss. • Take your time. • Do not wait until the last minute to complete or submit! Computers have glitches. Don’t let a computer issue ruin your day- or your chances of getting this awesome scholarship! The DEADLINE is 5 pm. Not 5: 02, 5: 05 or 5: 10.
