20/20 Vision God’s “I” Test Am I seeing joy in my trials that will perfect me or only pain? (Jas. 1: 2 -4, 12; 5: 10 -11; Acts 5: 40 -42)

Am I seeing joy in my trials or pain? “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect & complete, lacking in nothing” (Jas. 1: 2 -4).

Am I seeing joy in my trials or pain? “As an example, brethren, of suffering & patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job & have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful” (James 5: 10 -11).

Am I seeing joy in my trials or pain? After the apostles had been put in prison, were flogged and ordered not to speak in the name of Jesus for preaching His word the Scripture says, “So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. And every day, in the temple & from house to house, they kept right on teaching & preaching Jesus as the Christ” (Acts 5: 41 -42).

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven & tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (Jas. 1: 5 -8).

But each one is tempted when he is carried away & enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; & when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren” (Jas. 1: 13 -16).

The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, & he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, & it did not rain on the earth for three years & six months. Then he prayed again, & the sky poured rain & the earth produced its fruit” (Jas. 5: 16 -18)

Am I growing spiritually or blinded by darkness? …For if anyone is a hearer of the word & not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself & gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, & abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does” (Jas. 1: 21 -25).

Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, & that those who see may become blind. ” Those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things & said to Him, “We are not blind too, are we? ” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see, ’ your sin remains” (Jn. 9: 3941)

Am I growing spiritually or blinded by darkness? “Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, & in your moral excellence, knowledge, & in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, & in your perseverance, godliness, & in your godliness, brotherly kindness, & in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ…

Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you” (2 Pet. 1: 5 -11). …for

You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men & fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Pet. 3: 16 -18).
