1. Purpose • To mediate the amendments of the trimmed 2020 Annual Teaching Plan

1. Purpose • To mediate the amendments of the trimmed 2020 Annual Teaching Plan including School Based Assessment for Grade 6 HL and FAL for implementation in June 2020 as per DBE Circular S 2 of 2020 • To ensure meaningful teaching • To assist teachers with guided pacing and sequencing of the Curriculum • To assist teachers with effective planning of assessment

Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase GRADE 6 Term 2 GRADE

Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase GRADE 6 Term 2 GRADE 6 Term 3 GRADE 6 Term 4 REMOVED: dialogue, group discussion, forum discussion, role play, dramatization, interview – Removed across the Terms, Grades and Phases REMOVED: Creative Writing project REMOVED: informal class and group discussion used in examination preparation June Examination removed Oral Task will be done during the Term Paper 2 Reading Comprehension and Language will be written as a test during normal school teaching time. Writing Task removed Removed: Oral presentation based on a project WRITING : Transactional text AND Essay to be written as a Task Oral Task will be done during the Term and become Paper 1. Writing of Essay and Transactional Text (Paper 3) will be written during normal school teaching time. No literature test in the IP in Term 3; instead Reading Comprehension and Language test will be done. Paper 2: Reading Comprehension & Language will be written under examination conditions.

Amendments to the ATP • Listening and Speaking - Oral activities that compromise social distancing have been removed (E. g. debate, interview, dialogue, role-play, etc. ) • Reading and Viewing - Prepared and Unprepared Reading have been reconfigured to comply with the Covid 19 measures. (E. g. wearing of face masks) • Writing and Presenting – Creative Writing Project has been removed as it needs lots of preparation and teaching time. • Language Structures and Conventions are taught in context and based on the text used. Teachers are not expected to cover all the LSC concepts within a given biweekly cycle.
