TORNADO Watch Tornado ü Conditions are right for the formation of severe storms. ü Continue activities, but be alert for changes in the weather. ü Outside activities must be monitored carefully due to lightning and high winds. Warning Tornado ü Tornado has been sighted or a tornado has been detected by radar
TORNADO Procedure ü E & M will monitor weather conditions ü Severe weather alert ü E & M notify CRM
TORNADO Protocol ü CRM will announce via telephone address ü All occupants proceed to shelter ü DO NOT USE THE ELEVATORS ü CRM will escort lobby visitors to SHELTER ü Employees escort visitors to shelter ü Instructors escort students to shelter ü Line up in single file ü Stay in shelter until further notice

ACTIVE SHOOTER Profile of an Active Shooter ü Actively engage in killing people in confined and populated areas ü In most cases they use fire arms ü There is no pattern or method to their victim selection
ACTIVE SHOOTER Active Shooter Situation ü Unpredictable and evolve quickly ü Immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to stop shooting and mitigate harm ü Situations last 10 to 15 minutes before law enforcement arrives ü Individuals must be mentally and physically prepared
ACTIVE SHOOTER Active shooter in your vicinity ü Quickly determine the most reasonable way to protect your life ü Run ü Hide ü Fight
ACTIVE SHOOTER RUN ü Have an escape route and plan in mind ü Leave your belongings behind ü Keep your hands visible
ACTIVE SHOOTER HIDE ü Hide in an area out of the active shooter’s view ü Block entry to your hiding place and lock doors
ACTIVE SHOOTER FIGHT ü As a last resort and only when your life is in imminent danger ü Attempt to incapacitate the active shooter ü Act with physical aggression and throw items at the active shooter
ACTIVE SHOOTER Response when law enforcement arrives ü Remain calm and follow officers instructions ü Immediately raise your hands and spread your fingers ü Keep hands visible at all times ü Avoid making quick moves towards officers such as attempting to hold on to them for safety
ACTIVE SHOOTER Response when law enforcement arrives ü Avoid pointing, screaming and/or yelling ü Do not stop to ask officers for help or direction when evacuating ü Do not leave until law enforcement authorities has instructed you to do so
ACTIVE SHOOTER Stay Alert ü Be aware of your environment ü Take note of the two nearest exits ü If in an office, secure the door AND BE QUIET ü If in a hallway get into a room, secure the door AND BE QUIET ü As a last resort attempt to take the shooter down ü Call 911 when it is safe
ACTIVE SHOOTER Information to provide to law enforcement or 911 ü Location of the active shooter ü Number of shooters ü Physical description of the shooter ü Number and type of weapons held by the shooter ü Number of potential victims at the location
