Belgrade Middle School COVID 19 Procedures for Sports 2020 -21 General Procedures for all Sports Only 2 spectators allowed per Belgrade student/athlete Only 2 spectators allowed per out of town student/athlete No large gatherings of spectators Spectators must practice social distancing in the bleachers, seats, field areas and wear masks entire time both indoors and outdoors All student/athletes must practice social distancing when possible All student/athletes must wear a face covering when not actively participating (Neck gaiters worn double work great for activities) All student/athletes must bring their own water bottle they are able to identify All student/athletes must follow their coaches instructions on hand sanitizing, washing clothing and equipment If student/athlete is sick, keep them home and take appropriate precautions � � �

Traumatic Brain Injury - Concussions � State Law : The Dylan Steigers Protection of Youth Athletes Act. � All supervisors working with K-12 students must complete NFHS Concussion course. � Im. PACT test for football players – Prior to season � Football is the only activity we require this. � Football players take their impact test prior to the first practice � However, any athlete is at risk � “When in doubt –sit them out!” � Must be symptom free and cleared by medical personnel. � Pass Im. PACT post concussion test. � Ease back into participation.

Wrestling Grades 6 -8 � Coaches: Carpenter and Valera Practices: 1 st Practice is 2/8 At the Belgrade High School wrestling room 6: 00 -7: 15 pm (M-TH) 6: 45 -8: 00 am (FR)

Athletic Schedules � � Coaches will send schedules home with your athlete once they become available. Look for periodic updates for changes to the schedule. Most current date is near the bottom of schedule. Transportation � � We prefer student/athletes travels to and from competitions with the team to help build team comradery If you chose to pick up your student/athlete from an out of town competition he or she must be signed out by a parent or legal guardian. These are the only people authorized to take the child and it is imperative the coach is informed and the child is signed out. If you feel an exception is necessary please contact the Athletic Director ahead of time. Masks must be worn by athletes while on the bus

Academic Eligibility ◦Academics ● Must have a minimum GPA of 2. 0 (MHSA Standard) ● Weekly Grade Checks ● First week with any F—”On notice” ● Able to fully participate, but need to raise grade ● Second week in a row with the same F or an F in a different class, then participant is suspended until the grade is raised. Participant is still expected at all practices, but will not be able to compete or travel with the team until grade is raised

Registering the Athlete � Athletes must be registered online and all forms filled out or uploaded before participation or attendance at practice is allowed. Participation Fee Required �All students participating in middle school activities will be required to pay an activities fee. The money raised from this fee helps with the financial support of the activity that the student benefits from, though it pays for only a small portion of the actual expense of the activity. All fees must be paid through Dragonfly. �The amount is: ◦ $50. 00 for 7/8 Activities ◦ $25. 00 for 5/6 Activities ◦ Exceptions: 5 th & 6 th graders in wrestling and/or cross country pay $50. 00 Scholarships are available: ◦ Fill out Scholarship Form on Dragonfly

Medical Insurance Provide proof of Medical Insurance. ⦿ No insurance? ◦ There is a liability release form you must complete. ⦿

Chain of Command � Please address any concerns with the person you have a concern with first. If you feel uncomfortable with that, talk with their superior and arrange a conference with all parties involved. � Always wait 24 hours before talking with the person. � Please do not talk to them on the field, pitch, course or court after a contest. � We believe in our coaches and expect them to be professional in all aspects of their duties.

BMS Parents � � Be positive and encouraging to your studentathlete, team and coach. Help your student-athlete get plenty of sleep Provide a healthy snack for your student-athlete to have before practice and competitions Pick up student-athlete promptly from practices and following competitions. Coaches do have additional commitments.
