There are staff members stationed throughout the hallway that will help your child find their way. Throughout the day they will be with their teacher everywhere they go. *You might be able to walk them to class* What if my child has a food allergy? Make sure to note that on your child’s health card in their registration paperwork and notify your teacher. Make sure any required medicine has been signed in with the nurse and is on campus. At the beginning of the year the nurse will make a list of allergies that she will provide to the cafeteria, office, activity teachers, and classroom teachers, How will my child know what to get when going through the lunch line? There is an online menu found here. They will choose a milk, an entree, a fruit and/or vegetable and a dessert. School lunch is FREE for all students. However, they may purchase an extra such as ice cream, chips, drinks, etc. (prices vary)

Frequently Asked Questions 2020 -2021 Kindergarten Orientation What are attendance requirements for Kindergarteners? Kindergarten students must be in attendance for a minimum of 162 days, as a criteria for progression to first grade. What Curriculum is used to teach Kindergarten Standards? The district is implementing a new curriculum called Benchmark Advance. An overview of the program can be found here: https: //www. benchmarkadvance. com/ Required Kindergarten Testing: Kindergarten students are required to come in to complete the Kindergarten Literacy Assessment and Math Assessment. You will be contacted by a kindergarten teacher to schedule a date and time OR can sign up during registration day (date TBD). Testing will happen during teacher preplanning: August 2 nd-9 th. The first day of Kindergarten will be August 13 th. Your child’s placement/teacher will be determined after assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions 2020 -2021 Kindergarten Orientation Will I be able to walk my child to class the first day of school? At this time, we do not know the answer to that. It depends on what COVID-19 Safety procedures the district implements next year. However, we can promise we will do something to make it memorable! This year we staggered drop off times and parents were able to bring their child up to take a photo in a photo booth. Their teacher came up also to take a “first day of school” picture. Students were then walked by their teacher or another staff member to class.

Guidelines for next year have yet to be announced, so things may look different. Here is what we are doing this year: ● ● ● ● ● Masks required when unable to social distance 2 at a table for lunch/breakfast (6 feet apart) Hand sanitizer before and after sharing PE or recess equipment No shared supplies “Center” bags that are sanitized after each use Desks spread apart One way direction hallways Students stay with their homeroom classes Seating charts to help with contact tracing
