The course framework and instructional strategies for this course are differentiated in content, pacing, process skills emphasis, and expectation of student outcomes from the typical 6 th grade math course. Course content has been designed for mastery and extension of state and district performance standards. The course is appropriate for students who have high achievement and interest in math. Tapp MS has established criteria and guidelines to identify students who will be successful in this course. Students are placed in this class according to specified indicators of demonstrated exceptional ability and motivation. Students must meet continuation criteria to remain in the class. We must work together in order to achieve our goals. My goals are to teach you the Georgia Standards of Excellence, and provide a safe, nurturing, and interesting environment. Your goals should be to succeed in math, collaborate with your peers, and to come to class prepared with your supplies and a positive attitude. I have high expectations for all of you. Homework Policy: Homework gives students the opportunity to practice and reinforce skills learned in the classroom. Therefore, students will be required to complete homework as assigned to reinforce key concepts. Academic Honesty Policy: In order to support student success and learning, a positive testing environment will be maintained. We will follow state testing guidelines, which include: 1. No talking during testing. 2. No use of devices and/or unapproved materials. 3. No copying or sharing of answers. Failure to comply with the testing environment expectations will result in disciplinary action in addition to a reduction of assessment scores or an invalidation of the assessment. Please note: the Reassessment policy will not apply to instances of Academic Dishonesty. Reassessment Policy: In the event a student does not show mastery of the standards on a summative assessment, he or she will be given the opportunity to: 1. Make error corrections to their summative assessment by the due date. 2. Complete modules or other practice as assigned by the due date. 3. Take an alternate summative assessment for a new grade. If the student fails to complete steps one and two, he or she will forfeit the opportunity to retake the test (step three).
