2018 People Matter Employee Survey The 2018 People Matter Employee Survey is on in June. This survey is a priority for our Transport cluster. It’s all about putting our people – that’s you – at the heart of everything we do. By having your say about your workplace, you are helping to make this the kind of place where you want to work and driving real change in your organisation. 2

“You said”: Effective and visible senior managers • • 40% of staff across Transport (33% in Sydney Trains) agree senior managers listen to employees 72% of staff across Transport (63% in Sydney Trains) said your manager encourages and values your input “We’re doing” • We launched “Leader Buzz with Rodd Staples” a new way for the Secretary to communicate directly with 22, 000 staff across the Transport cluster, and the ability to comment on or like his posts. And Rodd has been getting out and about each fortnight to visit staff at different locations around NSW. • More than 250 Transport leaders came together as one team at the Leader Alliance event in October 2017 to talk about the need to evolve and lead our people through change. “You said”: Recruiting and developing our people 30% of staff across Transport (26% in Sydney Trains) said our recruitment processes are efficient 45% of staff across Transport (42% in Sydney Trains) are satisfied with career development opportunities • • “We’re doing” We’ve already made some big improvements to our recruitment processes: • The average time it takes to fill a vacancy has dropped from 57 days down to 33 • Our timeline to recruit and train new train drivers has been slashed by a huge 25% • Recruiting bus drivers is now 23 days faster and we have 1, 500 in the pipeline! • We’re running a pilot to provide more hands on support and reduce administration for busy managers • Our new cluster-wide guide, “It’s your career. Own it. ” was recently launched to give you practical information and tips on how to take control of your own professional development. And there’s so much more just about to come! • Your feedback has helped us re-design and build a whole new way of managing recruitment for the future, with the things you told us you want – much faster and simpler processes and systems, a better experience for candidates and hiring managers, easier access to candidates, career pathways and more. “You said”: Collaboration across teams and between agencies 44% of staff across Transport (38% in Sydney Trains) said there is good cooperation between teams, across branches, divisions, directorates and between agencies across Transport. • “We’re doing” • Future Transport 2056 is our bold new strategy for transport in NSW over the next 40 years. Every agency across Transport made important contributions to the strategy. The plans were developed collaboratively with the Greater Sydney Commission and Infrastructure NSW, as well as the departments of Premier and Cabinet, Planning and Environment, Industry, Health and Education.
