2017 Speech Night Instructions
About Speech Night The IUPUI Speech Night competition allow R 110 students an opportunity to experience the best principles of oral communication and persuasion in action. We recognize both the importance of speaking well and of judging wisely. Each class selects its best speaker who then participates in an online, outline only quarterfinal round, then in the semifinal round, they present their speeches to an audience of R 110 student judges. The students judged to be the best in each semifinal room competition become the finalists selected for the Speech Night Competition. IUPUI Speech Night allow students from R 110 Speech and Communication classes, to showcase their talents. Since 1971, Speech Night has occurred at the end of every spring and fall semester. This event showcases our students’ knowledge and talent. Over the past 40+ years of Speech Night, the R 110 faculty has proudly watched R 110 students become leaders in business, academics, industry, and government. Students taking R 110 learn to demonstrate expertise in effective research, critical analysis and oral communication. IUPUI Speech Night celebrates all our talented students –past, present, and future.
