Key Dates and Times PRACTICE SCHEDULE • Four days per week • Monday thru Thursdays • Fridays: Pep rallies • Afternoons (April 11 th – May 25 st) • • • 4: 15 -5: 15 -5: 45 -6: 30 -7: 15 7: 00 -8: 00 13 -18 (15 minute dry land) 6 & Under (and new 7 year olds) 7/8 s 9/10 s 11/12 s (15 -minute dry land) • No practice on Memorial day (Monday, May 29 th)

COACH INFORMATION Bridgeland Barracudas Swim Team
New Swimmer Evaluation • April 8 th and 15 th at FINS • • • 12: 30 -1: 15 -6 u 1: 15 -2: 00 - 7/8 2: 00 -2: 45 - 9/10 *TIMES MAY DIFFER ACCORDING TO # OF SWIMMERS Swimmers must register by April 4 th and sign waiver with FINS • New Swimmers will be evaluated on readiness for swim team. Must be able to: • • Swim unassisted across the pool Be safe in the water (self and others) Swim across the pool in an adequate time limit Have comfort being in the water and using equipment (goggles, kickboard, etc) • All evaluations are left to coaches’ discretion
Practice Expectations • All Parents must remain under back covered blue awnings unless called by a coach or in the case of emergency. No exceptions. Overflow seating will be outside fencing (must bring your own chair). • Attire: • Girls: one piece suit, goggles, long hair tied up. Swim cap strongly recommended • Boys: swimsuit, jammers, or speedo, goggles. Swim cap strongly recommended • 11 U: fins will be used at practices on Wednesdays. Not required by strongly recommended • Practice schedule/focus will be posted on website • Additional/supplementary practices will be posted approx. each week on website
Practice Expectations • Practices are organized as a collective team by age group. Practices/lanes are not ability based, but formed to allow for effective practices for each swimmer. • 13 U swimmers may stay to help with 6 u practice for volunteer hours. • 13 U swimmers must attend a “Safety Swim” Class with Coach Jennie before helping with younger practices. • Swimmers must attend their age group practice unless Coach Jennie has approved a change. • New 7 year olds should attend 6 U practice (and 7/8 practice are optional) until an evaluation from Coach Jennie • Please do not approach coaches during practices unless in the case of an emergency
Meet Prep/Expectations • RSVP (yes or no) for meet by Tuesday at 8 pm each week. • You may enter your swimmer into events they wish to swim • All races are up to final coaches discretion- event selection is recommended but not guaranteed • Please add in additional comments in RSVP if needed (leave early, need qualifying times, etc) • Relays are chosen by coaching staff • A&B relays are chosen based on (split times, computer info, coaches discussion) • CUDA (c) Relays are composed of swimmers chosen by coaches (not time dependent)
Meet Prep/Expectations • During the meet: • Please arrive on time and check in to avoid being scratched from relays • Having other parent #s is helpful if running late, etc. • If emergency occurs and swimmers cannot swim, alert Coach Jennie • After each race, check in with the coaches for feedback • Drink lots of water, eat more fruits/veggies vs. candy/chips, and HAVE FUN!
Cuda Buddies • Who: 13 U swimmers are paired up with 6 U swimmers • What: For 13 U swimmers: • An opportunity to impact new swimmers in a positive way by giving them encouragement, swim tips, and kindness • A chance to gain volunteer hours for NHS, college applications, Key Club, etc. • A fun way to connect with other swimmers throughout the season • Receive a special decal patch on team shirt to distinguish Cuda Buddy status
Cuda Buddies • What: For 6 U swimmers: • • An opportunity to gain experience from older swimmers A chance to receive additional help/encouragement A friendly face at each Cuda event A fun way to connect with other swimmers throughout the season • When: During meets, practices, and other Cuda events (pep rallies, Cuda-Thon, end of year party, etc. ) • How: Sign up your 6 U or 13 U swimmer during registration/parent’s meeting/first week of practice ****Swimmers are not required to participate. They must be signed up to become a Cuda Buddy****
Swim Lessons • If your swimmer needs extra one on one attention/help, all of our coaching staff provide private lessons. • $25/30 minute lesson • Contact any of the coaches through their emails found on bridgelandbarracudas. com • *****PLEASE NOTE***** We are not able to use the Bridgeland lap pool to conduct lessons. *******

Events Cuda-Thon | Monday June 12, 2017 • Weeknight event with music, food, and fun! • WHOLE family event. Adult relays, family relays, coaches relays…all to raise money! • Mark Braswell Memorial Scholarship Fund benefitting our many graduating Seniors • Swimmers collect pledges to support their efforts and earn money by swimming laps • Donors can pledge money per lap, or make a flat donation • If you’re interested in sponsoring this event as a family or business, please contact Wendy Mulholland at events@swimcuda. com
Events End of Season Party | June 19, 2017 • More Fun at the pool with live music! • Lots of junk food, music, games and probably some hijinks with the coaches • Fun event for the whole family to celebrate our season. • Opportunity to present awards to our swimmers for their outstanding accomplishments • Announce our Mark Braswell Scholarship recipients • Awesome way to celebrate getting your Saturday’s back =)
