What I look at for Crits & Cross • What does the finish line equipment consist of • How many separate races are there • How many racers are expected (This is the hardest one, especially for new races) • How long is the entire race going to be • Who do I have available – A volunteer to help out can eliminate an official • How far away from the race do they live
Road Races • • • What does the finish line equipment consist of How many separate fields How many racers are expected in each field How long is the entire race going to be Who do I have available How far away from the race do they live
Time Trials • • What does the finish line equipment consist of Who do I have available How far away from the race do they live Starter / WHIP / Finish Line
Another way to reduce costs • By USAC rule, the CR of a race cannot be a member of the sponsoring club unless no other official is available, but all other positions can be filled by the club ref • Encourage members of your clubs or organization to become an official • How do we do that? ?
How can I or someone I know become and Official? • We will be holding an Level C clinic in March (Location to be determined) • This clinic is about 4 hours of class instruction • Open book exam (About 2 hours) • Cost is covered by USAC or MBRA • Apprentice at 3 events before being assigned to a race • Sign up through USAC or send me an email at - mbraofficial@gmail. com • Goal is to have at least one official in each club
