2016425 WLTP14 11 e Asian Round Robin Test

2016/4/25 WLTP-14 -11 e Asian Round Robin Test < Interim report > WLTP-IWG 26 -28 April 2016 Prepared by JAPAN Japan Automobile Research Institute 1

2016/4/25 Purposes • to check the understanding and application of the GTR 15 (based on Phase 1 a text) in different labs • to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility of the test procedure <V 1 - Petrol> Toyota WISH 1. 8 L, 105 k. W, CVT Japan Automobile Research Institute <V 2 - Diesel> Mahindra & Mahindra XUV 500 2. 2 L, 103 k. W, 6 MT 2

Test schedule 2016/4/25 • Gasoline vehicle (V 1) : 8 labs(10 data sets), 30 tests(25 effective data) • Diesel vehicle (V 2) : 4 labs, 13 tests, ARAI will re-test at the end • Need to coordinate the vehicle transportation between Asia and Europe Japan Automobile Research Institute 3

2016/4/25 Test results - CO 2, 4 -phase u. Gasoline vehicle (V 1) Error bar: MAX - MIN u. Diesel vehicle (V 2) Error bar: MAX - MIN *) Lab. C: Fuel type was different (E 0 petrol) • Big difference on V 2 results. • Warm-up procedure for RL setting on chassis dyno was different from GTR. (It was corrected to what the GTR described at the gasoline vehicle test. ) Japan Automobile Research Institute 4

Comparison with European RRT 2016/4/25 u. Gasoline vehicle l. Asian RRT (Toyota WISH) l. EU RRT (BMW 116 i) u. Diesel vehicle l. Asian RRT (Mahindra XUV 500) l. EU RRT (Alfa Romeo Giulietta) Detailed data can be seen in Appendix *) Reference of EU RRT result: WLTP-13 -06 e and GRPE-72 -02 Japan Automobile Research Institute 5

Test results – Charge balance, 4 -phase u. Gasoline vehicle (V 1) 2016/4/25 u. Diesel vehicle (V 2) There was a big difference between Lab. D’s result and others (Test equipment has no problem. Mistake in data processing? ? ) Japan Automobile Research Institute 6

2016/4/25 Summary (Temporary) Variation was observed in CO 2 between labs. However, it will be reduced if the following actions are taken. Item Lab. equipment Test procedure Driving trace Detail Action Temperature in the test cell and soak area One lab could not set at 23 deg. C during RR program because of other on going programs will be changed when WLTP is introduced Maximum speed of Cooling fan Lacking the speed of cooling fan at one lab Need to upgrade the cooling fan Width of Cooling fan Width of cooling fan is shorter than that of GTR requirement at on lab Need to renewal or update/modification Length of Connecting tube length of connecting tube is longer than that of GTR requirement at one lab. Need to modification RCB measurement equipment One lab doesn’t have a RCB measurement system yet Need to be introduced the equipment Data recording system Two labs could not record the vehicle speed of 10 Hz. Need to upgrade the data recording system Warm up procedure for RL setting Unique method was applied to the RL setting at one lab Follow the GTR procedure RCB measurement Higher dispersion was observed on RCB balance at one lab Need more training Driving trace index Variation was observed in each index Follow the trace as much as possible Japan Automobile Research Institute New! 7
