Outcome of the 1 st meeting of the Group of Volunteers The first meeting of the Group of the Volunteers concerning the development of European requirements for river-sea vessels was held on May 29 th – June 1 st, 2007 in Geneva. The following experts took part in the meeting - Mr. Willem Zondag, the European Commission - Mr. Peter Claeyssens, Belgium - Mr. Andrzej Jarosz, Poland - Mr. Valery Ogarkov, Russian Federation - Mrs. Victoria Ivanova, Russian Federation - Mr. James Wilson, the U. K. - Mr. Guy Toye, The European Boating Association The meeting was chaired by Mr. Willem Zondag. The Group started with discussion of the draft of new Chapter 20 B -Specific requirements applicable to river-sea vessels to be included into Annex to Resolution No. 61 ECE UN. The members of the Group exchanged with experience of construction and service of river-sea-going vessels in Russia, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Poland. The Group considered that there is enough experience to start the work on developing a framework for the relevant Chapter. The attention should also be paid to such vessels involved into domestic voyages. 2 E

Outcome of the 2 nd meeting of the Group of Volunteers The second meeting of the Group of Volunteers was held on December 11 th-14 th, 2007 in Brussels. The following experts took part in the meeting: - Mr. Peter Claeyssens, Belgum Mr. Alfons Van Reusel. Belgum Mr. Henk Croo, Belgum Mr. Eise Mulder, the Netherlands Mr. Valery Ogarkov, the Russian Federation Mrs. Victoria Ivanova, the Russian Federation Mr. Valery Lobastov, the Russian Federation Mr. James Wilson, The U. K. Mr. Guy Toye, the European Boating Association Mr. Willem Zondag, the European Commission, DG TREN It was agreed that the participants would investigate for the next meeting to what degree the Belgian document could be incorporated in the Russian proposal and introduce the Class RS 6. 0 into the new proposal as an option. Opinion of the Netherlands: the topics discussed should be in line with the European Directive 2006/87/EC. 5 E
