David’s act of mercy • David took the initiative. • David acted on the basis of his covenant with Jonathan. • David compelled Mephibosheth to come to him. • David calmed Mephibosheth’s fears. • David restored all that Mephibosheth had lost. • David guaranteed a personal relationship between himself and Mephibosheth. • Mephibosheth, realising his own miserable condition accepted David’s offer with humility and gratitude.
