2 nd Grade Math - My 2 nd graders will be learning different multiplication

2 nd Grade Math - My 2 nd graders will be learning different multiplication and division strategies. They will also be solving real-world problems using multiplication and division. Thank you for working with your child on memorizing multiplication facts through 5. 3 rd Grade Math - My 3 rd graders will be multiplying two and three digit numbers with and without regrouping. Please continue to work on memorizing all multiplication facts. : ) 2 nd Grade Social Studies - The 2 nd grade class will be studying about the Civil War and the events that led up to this war. 3 rd Grade Social Studies - My 3 rd graders will finish their study of the colonization of early America. 4 th Grade Social Studies - My two 4 th grade classes will be studying about the causes of the American Revolution and about Kentucky families on the frontier before, during, and after the American Revolution. 2 nd – 6 th Rockstars December 16– 20 Weekly Reminders Thursday, December 19 th – 6: 00 p. m. – School-Wide Christmas Program Friday, December 20 th – All students can wear PAJAMAS! Mahaney 2 nd Grade Literacy I can develop oral vocabulary. I can describe the connection between cause and effect in a text. I can describe the structure of a story. I can describe the characteristic of a drama and a fairy tale. 3 rd Grade Literacy I can develop oral vocabulary. I can use information from the story to draw conclusions. I can identify important ideas to aid in comprehension I can use word analysis to decode contractions. 2 nd Grade Science /3 rd Grade Science Special Christmas activities will be occurring during this time. December 23 rd – January 3 rd: Christmas Break ROGERS 4 th Grade Literacy – In Literacy class students will continue to learn comprehension skills and strategies to become better readers. This week students will be able to use dictionary skills in order to solve questions, such as, location of guide words, vocabulary, and research skills. Have a Happy Holiday!!! 5 th Grade Literacy - In Literacy class students will build upon their prior knowledge of comprehension skills and strategies to become better readers. This week students will be able to identify theme (hidden message) of a story, as well as, reinforcing their dictionary and research skills. Have a Happy Holiday!!!!

Linder At an amusement park, 60% of the people were adults, and the rest were children. There were 720 adults. How many children were at the amusement park? Math - We will review what we have learned this year so far in math. Please continue to practice multiplication and division! Have a Merry Christmas! Science - We will be experimenting with changes in our Earth. Our key vocabulary this week is weathering, erosion and deposition. Have a Merry Christmas! Email me the correct answer and explain how you solved the question. The first correct answer will earn 10 extra credit points. All other correct answers will earn 5 extra credit points. Bowen Language Arts - All classes will be diving into SPAT! (Situation, purpose, audience, and task) This means we will be looking at on demand writing and dissecting the prompts to insure we know what we are being ask to write. From there we will continue to work on our paragraph development and start incorporating some technology into our publishing. Wells 5 th Grade Social Studies I can compare Loyalists and Patriots. I can explain key arguments made by Loyalists against independence. 6 th Grade World Geography I can use Wiki and Wordle to showcase my country research project. 5 th Grade Math I can divide a fraction by a whole number. I can solve real world problems by multiplying and dividing fractions. . . 5 th Writing We will be finishing up our study of RUN and SPAT this week. Please ask your child to explain this to you. 6 th Writing We are finishing our Greek/Latin Unit with an "Invention Convention" on Thursday of this week. Daily 5 Our skill focus this week is Compare/Contrast. We will be listening to three different versions of "The Night Before Christmas" using dialect and comparing and contrasting the different versions. Rock On! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
