2 MINUTE PEARLS Copy Forward Function • The Copy Forward function of AHLTA is a valuable time saver that easily brings information from a previous encounter forward to your current encounter eliminating need to reenter duplicate information. • The information that is carried forward includes bullets from the S/O portion of the note as well as items from the A/P module including diagnoses, procedures, orders, and otherapies. • This function works best for patients involved in serial visits for the same problem (i. e. post procedure visits, chronic wound care visits, obstetrical visits, chronic disease follow up, etc…) where similar clinical items need to be documented. 2 Minute Pearls AHLTA Copy Forward 1

USING COPY FORWARD Two Requirements: 1) A Completed Previous Encounter for the patient 2) Current Open Encounter for the same patient Accessing Copy Forward Function Start by selecting Previous Encounters to access a list of available encounters to copy 2 Minute Pearls AHLTA Copy Forward 2

If a patient has multiple encounters open, you will be prompted to choose your desired encounter Select Current Encounter 2 Minute Pearls AHLTA Copy Forward 4

When you enter the S/O Module, the bullets from your previous encounter will automatically load and will appear in yellow USING COPY FORWARD Using Copy Forward in the S/O Module You can then either: 1) Choose the bullets you want individually OR 2) Use the Auto Enter button to insert all of the bullets with a single click 2 Minute Pearls AHLTA Copy Forward 5

The Copy Forward Template can contain information for all tabs of the S/O Module, but you need to select the Auto Enter key on each tab separately. 2 Minute Pearls AHLTA Copy Forward 6
