One Of The Major Events That Caused The Riot On March 3, 1991, Rodney King was brutally attacked by 4 LAPD officers. He was arrested for fleeing and evading police officers. Then in court 3 police officers were released of any charges, but the jury failed to reach a verdict or decision on the fourth police officers.
Another Major Event That Caused The Riot In March 16 1991, Latasha Harlins was shot and killed after a dispute over a bottle of orange juice. Soon Ja Du, the owner of the convenience store, shot and killed Latasha Harlins because she accused her of stealing a bottle of orange juice. After a struggle, and Harlins backed away, Soon grabbed a gun and shot Harlins in the back of the head. Soon Ja Du was not given any prison sentence at all. This ignited anger in the African. American race.

After The 1992 LA Riot After the riot many volunteers and companies helped rebuild the town, donate for food and medicine, and helped build back collapsed businesses. But, many local businesses were never rebuilt including Soon’s convenience store. After the riot, the residents of LA bought weapons for self-defense against any further violence. Many of the residents agreed that the economy in LA had become worse since 1992. The black population decrease while the Latino population increased. Violent crime and gang activities decreased a lot, and tensions between racial groups decline.
After The 1992 LA Riot The police force increased focus on multiculturalism in order to better reflect the cultures and communities they patrol. The force then shifted slowly from a paramilitary style into a more interactive style.
