Courses • When can I leave? 14 • Exchange students represent the KU Leuven abroad. It is important to send students that will succeed the courses they are taking at the partner institution. • Students can only leave if they failed a max. of 12 credits after the first exam opportunity, which means decision is taken after the deliberation in July! • Students of a preparatory/bridging programme have to pass all the credits after the second exam opportunity! Scholarships • Within the European Union When applying for the study period abroad in KU Loket for a destination within EU : scholarship application is automatic A scholarship for Switzerland, has to be requested at partner university • Outside the European Union When you want to go outside of the European Union, there also possibilities for scholarships. General conditions • You enroll at KU Leuven and stay a student at KU Leuven • You fill out a KU Leuven ISP • KU Leuven recognises the credits you acquire abroad • Recognition is based on a Learning Agreement/training agreement, duly signed by student, home university and exchange university 28 Faculty of Science

When do I submit my application? Before the 31 st of January!! • We rank the applicants and tell you to apply to the guest institution • For a destination inside EU, apply for an erasmus scholarship • For a destination outside EU, apply for a scholarship if possible.
